Ahead of the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against
Roma, Manchester United will be feeling confident after their 6-2
demolition of the Italian side at Old Trafford last week, where new
fan favourite, Edinson Cavani, played a pivotal role scoring and
assisting twice, respectively.

In an exclusive interview with Bookmakers.co.uk , former Manchester United striker, Teddy Sheringham, who famously achieved European success at the club, has spoken extremely highly of the Uruguayan, voicing regret that the thirty-four-year-old is in the autumn of his career.

“It’s a shame he’s not four or five years younger, but he’s still
doing a job, he still leads the line well,” Sheringham told Bookmakers.co.uk

“He’s a fantastic player and has been over the years and he’s showing touches of absolute sheer class and sometimes that’s the difference between putting the ball in the back of the net and getting your team three points or settling for a draw. These players with that quality make a difference.”

Cavani though, is almost certainly bound for South America at the end
of the season, forcing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to search for a new,
long-term frontman. With Harry Kane, weighing up his future after
another trophyless season at Spurs, Sheringham has urged United to go
all out for the England Captain who would follow in Sheringham’s
footsteps by leaving North London for Old Trafford in pursuit of
silverware and although they would be big boots to fill, for Sheringham, there’s only one man for the job.

Sheringham added: “You’re talking about Harry Kane. He is the top number nine in the world for me. People talk about [Erling] Haaland who is a very good youngster coming through with unbelievable promise, but Harry Kane is the best number nine in the world.

“From a Manchester United point of view, if you can get him, then
go get him. Tottenham supporters won’t want to hear that, but they’ve
heard it for the last three years – Harry Kane is a big money player,
he’s the best and everybody wants him.”

In the same interview with Bookmakers.co.uk, Sheringham had his say on how former strike partner, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is coping with one of the hottest jobs in football and while admitting there is a long way to go in getting United back to where they were under Fergie,
Sheringham is pleased with the progress the club has made under Ole.

“He’s doing alright. He’s got Manchester United closer to where
they should be, in and around the top four,” he continued.

“They’re still way off Manchester City and challenging for the league, that’s the next step, but when you see improvement in a football team, that’s all you can ask for.

“He’s definitely improved the team since last season, they’re
consistent now, they’ve got a chance of winning the Europa League
which would be a huge boost.

“Ole has brought that stability now that he’s been there a couple
of years, he’s got his feet under the table and people are starting to
realise what his understanding of football is.”
