Man City Look To Wrap Up Premier League Title As Chelsea Visit Etihad

Manchester City will be hoping to wrap up the Premier League title today as the Citizens welcome Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium in what has been tagged a dress rehearsal for the Champions League final on May 29.

Manchester City and Chelsea have already locked horns twice this season, with the Citizens getting the better of the Blues in the reverse fixture before Thomas Tuchel’s charges handed them a 1-0 loss in the FA Cup semi-final last month.

Pep Guardiola & co. will be buoyed by the win over PSG, which confirmed their place in the UEFA Champions League final. And joining Manchester City in the grand finale in Istanbul later this month will be Chelsea, who eased past Real Madrid to set up the date with their rivals.

However, the London club have been transformed under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel, having kept a clean sheet in 18 of their 24 games since the German tactician took charge. Furthermore, Chelsea are starting to show better pedigree in attack with every passing game, as has been seen in the recent wins over Fulham and Real Madrid.

Interestingly, Saturday’s game represents the 168th meeting between Man City and Chelsea in all competitions, with the former boasting 59 wins compared to Chelsea’s 69.

Not since January 2015 has a Premier League clash between City and Chelsea ended with the points shared, but the capital outfit have conceded nine and scored just one in their last three meetings to the Etihad – all of which ended in defeat.

Neither side will want to give too much away before the European prize is up for grabs, and having both come from gruelling midweek encounters, a low-scoring affair could be on the cards here.
