Lionel Messi of PSG has picked the Premier League clubs that are strong challengers to win the UEFA Champions League this season.
Messi and his new Paris Saint-Germain teammates, according to Messi, cannot rely on individual brilliance to win their first Champions League title because they face stiff competition from other European clubs.
Last season’s finalists, Manchester City, were defeated 2-0 by PSG at Parc des Princes, with Lionel Messi scoring his first goal for his new team.
Messi has revealed which Premier League clubs he considers to be genuine challengers.
It is everyone’s ambition to win the Champions League here,’ says the coach. L’Equipe quoted Messi as saying. ‘The club has been working towards this aim for a few years and has recently come close to achieving it.
“It’s the same from a personal standpoint; I’d love to win the Champions League, as I said when I was still in Barcelona.”
“It’s a fantastic, difficult competition to win, but I believe this collection of players has the weaponry to do it.”
“While PSG is the focus of attention, there are other extremely strong teams, such Chelsea, the Manchester teams (United and City), Real Madrid, who always answers, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich.”
“They’re all fantastic teams.” We have excellent people, but in order to establish a team, we must first get to know one another. To win big championships, you must play as part of a team.
“That is why I believe we are still a step behind all of these clubs, who collectively have more experience than us.”
