Two masquerades have been apprehended for reportedly robbing a resident of Melege community in Ondo State’s Owo Local Government Area.
Sheriff Ojo and Muhammed Lukman, the suspects, are accused of robbing Adinoyi Mohammed of N370,000 and his cellphone. They also injured the victim’s father, Saliu Ajayi, before fleeing the site of the crime, according to reports.
Funmi Odulami, a spokeswoman for the Ondo State Police Command, who confirmed their arrest, said:
“The two suspects, who pretended to be masqueraders, injured one Adinoyi Mohammed with cutlasses and robbed him of?370,000.00, a handset worth at?32,000.00, and a shirt valued at?2,500.00.”
“They also assaulted the victim’s father, Saliu Ajayi, before fleeing the scene, but they were arrested by security agents within the town.
“Two cutlasses, charms, and masquerade clothing were recovered from them, and the two suspects were apprehended and will be charged in court soon, while efforts to apprehend the other escaping masqueraders continue.”
