On Wednesday, Radamel Falcao’s first-half goal was enough to give Rayo Vallecano a 1-0 triumph over Barcelona, handing the Catalans their second consecutive LaLiga setback.
Barcelona had not lost to Rayo Vallecano in nearly two decades, with the most recent defeat occurring in 2002.
Barcelona have already suffered three defeats in the 2021-22 La Liga season.
And it’s the sixth time in ten games that Ronald Koeman’s side has failed to get the full ten points.
After Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets lost the ball in midfield, Falcao pounced in the 30th minute, allowing Rayo to launch a swift counter-attack that resulted in the goal.
Falcao finished off in style by reaching the back of the net after dribbling past Gerard Pique.
In the 72nd minute, Barcelona had a golden chance to equalize, but Rayo goalie Stole Dimitrievski saved Memphis Depay’s penalty kick.
